Bee Peterson

Stylist/Owner

Born and raised in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood, Bee’s dream was to open a salon.

Even though she graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in anthropology and sociology, she knew in college the beauty industry was her end goal. Bee is thrilled to have achieved one of her greatest ambitions; co-owning Urban Village in the neighborhood with three terrific friends and colleagues.

Bee’s other dream achieved? Creating with her husband Jason a super-active, outdoors-loving family that includes her “smart and sassy” daughter and “fun wild-man” son. “We spend a lot of time wearing each other out,” she laughs. That is, when she’s not running marathons, hiking, biking or traveling.

Completely at home at Urban Village, Bee practices her profession with expertise built through a decade of experience: Providing her devoted clients with expert cuts, color, keratin treatments and facial waxing. “I love the people I work with, and am truly inspired by every one of my co-workers on a daily basis,” Bee says. “I’m also so happy that every client at Urban Village is taken care of with so much love.”

After graduating from the Aveda Institute in 2002, Bee worked at the prestigious Aveda concept salon in the Twin Cities. While at Aveda, she took advanced training courses in haircutting, styling, up-dos, business development and seasonal trends. For six years she developed a dedicated clientele. She then took a leap of faith and worked as an independent contractor for Petite Salon where she perfected her color work.

Bee continues to advance her education by attending courses with the Vidal Sassoon Academy, Matrix, Logics, Alfaparf and Davines (her favorite hair-care line). The trend she’s been noticing is effortless hair. “Natural and bohemian,” she explains, “which we can easily achieve with braids—everyone knows how to braid!—loose waves/curls, and messy up-dos. Easy, low-maintenance and very client friendly!” Bee would love to show you how!
